V Restaurant
stories 3782

We're reviewing a Westport staple this week because it is nearly in Fairfield.

V Restaurant and Wine Bar is like an old friend.  Suzy visited after a three-year absence last night.  Like its sister restaurants Centro in Fairfield, Darien and Greenwich, V gets it right no matter the type of food.

The hardest part is choosing.  You can't go wrong with a number of salads that make it fun to be out but not too far off your pledge to eat healthily (Doesn't the Parisian New Year's Eve Salad sound inviting?). The pasta entrees and sandwiches (Grilled Ahi Tuna BTA!) are always satisfying but we're partial to the European thin-crust pizzas and meat selections.  We enjoyed the marinated skirt steak and cheese quesadilla option.

We took the kids and though the Tuscan decor is quite rich, children fit in just fine (although Suzy's triplets kicked the banquette bugging a fellow diner! Mortifying... just like an airplane debacle.)  The children's menu is the usual fare. The portions are large and can satisfy an older kid. (We wish the dessert was included with the kids entree price.)

If you're looking for a grown-up meal and must bring the kids, V is your place.

Suzy's tip:  Get there early on weekend nights -- and make a reservation.  Service slows down demonstrably, and the food is not quite as fresh when the dinner rush kicks in.
