Eat, Drink and Be Merry

Do you have a foodie who has everything on your list this holiday? And are you still in search of the right gift? Suzy has some ideas that’ll fill up stockings and stomachs alike.

The Saugatuck Craft Butchery is offering Butchery 101 classes for carnivores who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. Learn from the expert in-house butchers Ryan Fibiger and Paul Nessel who will teach you the techniques they use to break down various meats into individual cuts. They’ll also provide everything from knives to safety gear. Classes start in January 2012, so now is the time to sign up. Saugatuck Craft Butchery also offers gift certificates that can be used on classes, food and cookbooks.

While you’re shopping around Saugatuck, Suzy says you should stop by Saugatuck Grain & Grape’s Scotch tasting event, happening Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. The laid back staff and owners will be on hand to walk you through Scotches new and old. Taste, character, process and history will all be explained and you’ll be able to sample more than a dozen different Scotches. SG&G will serve up some finger foods, too.  They’ll offer special orders and in store purchases, which will make for a spirited holiday.
