Kids, Lace Up Your Running Shoes!

Wakeman Boys and Girls Club will host their 6th Annual "Kids Only" 2.5-mile Road Race and ½ mile Fun Run. This race will be held on Saturday, June 21st and will start and finish at Wakeman. This race is sponsored by the Keystone Club as an attempt to encourage physical fitness among the youth of the community.
The race will feature two separate events. The first is a ½ Mile Fun Run on the Wakeman Field for children in 1st and 2nd grade. This race will begin at 9:00 am and will be followed by a 2.5-mile road race at 9:30 am. The 2.5 mile race is for participants in 3rd-12th grade. High school students must have completed their high school season in order to race. The road race will begin at the club and proceed through the side streets of Southport. Volunteers will be on hand throughout the course to guide the runners. Water stops will also be available on the race sidelines. If runner gets tired they are able to walk. Runners do not have to be a member of the club to participate!
Goodie bags and T-shirts will be available to the first 100 runners to register. Refreshments and food will also be on hand at the end of the race. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners in the following grade categories: 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade.
