Designer goods for a steal
Monday, May 04, 2009
Ever wonder how some women appear to always be wearing something designer? I've found that in most cases it's not because they're big spenders, but it's actually because they're extremely savvy shoppers. They're "in the know", if you will, of the best websites for deep designer markdowns and they're taking advantage of the amazing deals they have to offer.
Some of you may already be checking in on websites like these on a regular basis, but just in case you're not, I want to share them with you because they are worth the time it takes to do a routine look. In fact, they're so "worth" the look most of the time I force myself not to troll the sites to keep from getting sucked into yet another KILLER deal or feeling devastated because I had to pass it up!
I've gone ahead and done a little shopping on these sites I'm writing about to find some of my favorite picks of the moment, see below.
Three fantastic sites that have time-sensitive and DEEP discount sales on well-known, mainly high-end brands are:
www.hautelook.com
Their sales usually last a day, you can find everything from fashion from skincare here; my pick:

Manolo Blahnik, Pony Ankle boot, $575 down from $1095
www.gilt.com
Sales generally last a couple days, items goes incredibly fast (like minutes and it's gone, fast), on the best items because the mark-downs are SO dramatic; my pick:

Marc Jacobs, Stella Tote, $498 was $1025.00
www.theoutnet.com
There are various ways to shop the sales on this site, there are some sale items that I believe stay around until they're out of stock, and also time-sensitive versions of "flash sales"; a "going, going, gone - sale" (a if you're a gambler, hold out until you can get the price of your dreams) and a "72 hour pop-up sales" (a get it before you run out of time and before it runs out of stock); my pick:

Philip Lim, Cabana Tank Dress, $140 down from $350
And two of my staple, always-find-a-great-deal-sites:
www.bluefly.com
You'll find something for everybody and for every occasion on this site, and you can sign up for their new "10-hour sales" that have even deeper discounts on specific categories; my pick:

KORS Michael Kors, Wide-Sleeve Trench Coat, $249 down from $465
www.Eluxury.com
Luxury at nearly full price is what you will find here but the sales are really good, so check that section often; my pick:

James Perse, Open-Front Drape Jacket, $135 down from $225.00
