Ally in Connecticut
Monday, November 19, 2007

Ally is a force of nature. She's got a voice to rival Demi Moore and a sweetness for friends and family. She's up for a party or a picnic -- the first one to call and the last one to leave. We're not surprised that Jon Bon Jovi has taken out a restraining order on this Massachusetts native now living it up in Connecticut. Find out what's on her mind and in her closet.
In her closet

•what's not in my closet? Shopping bags of perpetual returns/exchanges. Zac Posen handbag, forever 21 tunics, yummy J. Crew tall black boots, scarlet red heels, tired Birkenstocks, unfolded laundry, empty dry cleaning bags, 1991 prom dress, nightie from my honeymoon, white patent leather go go boots from my punk san fran days, a lot of camoflauge"It's a real motley crue assortment. My favorite thing in my closet? My built-in shelves and organizers!
fashion priority for fall?
•dresses! to coin my girlfriend Marcy Haley's phrase, "dresses are this seasons' jeans".
most comfy item you own?
•maternity sweater that I wear as a robe
must-have for holiday dress-up occasions
•distressed gold heels. anything that will make me shimmer and disguise all the cookies I've eaten.
favorite makeup item?

•MAC arena eyeshadow. must-have everyday eyewear
if you could only have one item in your makeup bag it would be"
•my Prada aviator sunglasses to disguise the days when I don't wear makeup
On her nightstand
what are you reading?

•"The Almost Moon" by Alice Seybold, Real Simple Magazine (Sept. issue!), Martha Stewart Living, Vanity Fair, Entertainment Weekly, Time (Ok, that's more of a coaster for my water bottle), Gourmet, Lucky, Allure...
On a night out
what are you drinking?

•depends on the season, day of the week and time of night. Usually it's either Pinot Grigio, Madras with Kettle One or Starbucks tall skim hot chocolate
On the couch
what TV show do you DVR?

•Ellen Degeneres, Tell Me You Love Me, Curb Your Enthusias, Grey's Anatomy, The Office, Rules of Engagement. And I'd be DVR'ing "The New Adventures of Old Christine" if CBS would put it back on the air already!
On her laptop
website you check daily?
-www.thesuperficial.com and Suzy, too!
most embarrassing download on your iPod?
•Def Leppard, "Pour Some Sugar On Me"
In her dreams
if you were President for a day you would pass a law that...
•George W. Bush be ordered to serve in Iraq
if you could give $1 million to charity you would...
•donate to Alzheimer's Research
if you could be a senior in college again, one thing you would do differently:
•my crimped hair! And that grunge look of the mid-90s, not a trend to be repeated. whoever decided girls should wear overalls to bars or flowy skirts (over jeans) with three layers of sweater, briks, braids and a baseball hat?
In her stocking
what would you like for Christmas?
•already mailed my list to the north pole, priority mail.
favorite holiday tradition?
•traveling to Michigan for Thanksgiving. I'm even fond of the 15-hour car ride. nothing like a midwest casserole to put you in the holiday spirit!
