Gotta Get the Wii
Monday, August 06, 2007

It's never too early to start shopping for the holidays, Nintendo has already said the Wii will continue to be a hard-to-get item through the holiday season. Don't expect to find one on a store shelf any time soon. Here's the scoop on how to get one...
Option 1:
Almost every week, the Wii is featured in a Sunday ad of one (usually one, sometimes two) of the following big box stores:
Best Buy
Circuit City
Target
Walmart
Toys R Us
If you get your Sunday paper delivered, these ads usually come in the Saturday edition, if not - check it early on Sunday morning. You need to go to the store that has it advertised at least 2 hours before the store opens and wait for the store to open. Typically they will come out about an hour before it opens and give out vouchers for the Wii. It's usually noted in the ad how many units the store will have.
Option 2:
The Nintendo World Store in Manhattan gets a new shipment every day. The store opens at 9 AM Monday - Saturday and 11 AM on Sundays, arrive there 2 hours before the store opens and you'll most likely walk away with a Wii. It's the perfect option if someone in your house commutes to the city. The Nintendo World Store is located at 10 Rockefeller Plaza.
Option 3:
Overpay by hundreds of dollars by purchasing it on eBay or another online source.
