Security Check!

As Benjamin Franklin said, "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." This month we gather our financial documents together to prepare for the inevitable deadline: April 15th. However, how many of us have prepared for that other inevitability, death?
Is my Life Insurance coverage sufficient? When was the last time you reviewed your life insurance plan? It's a good idea to review your policies annually to make sure:
• your beneficiaries are up to date.
• your current plan fits your existing family situation.
• you are getting a fair deal.
If we don't already have a will or a life insurance plan, now is a good time to think about getting them. Need help or advice, Sumana Rangachar is offering free financial consultations for our readers and can be reached at

Do you have a will? This one is really important for those of us with dependent children. The will is where the parents or legal guardians specify who they want to take care of the children if they are no longer around. Without a specified guardian, the children are treated as "wards of the state," and the state will make the first determination as to who will take care of the children.
Estate planning does not have to be a scary, complex, expensive endeavor. It was a lot easier than Suzy expected. For most, a Last Will & Testament, a General Durable Power of Attorney and a Living Will is a great start. These documents will protect your family and your hard earned assets in the event you become ill and/or pass away. Illness and death are traumatic enough experiences for the loved ones left behind without adding the confusion, extra expense and frustration that ensue when these events occur without the proper instructions in the form of legal documentation.
Suzy recently heard about a service that makes this process simpler to tackle, House Call Attorneys. Bonnie Jerbasi and Mark Weissmann are New Jersey/New York lawyers who make house calls! One of their specialties is the preparation of the Estate documents. Bonnie and Mark take the pain out of the process not only by coming to your home or office, but also by simplifying Estate planning so that all you have to do is answer some simple questions-they do the rest! House Call Attorneys is offering Suzy readers a 10% discount on services, just mention SuzySaid when you call 201-312-4343 or 1-877-Esqs-To-U.
