This weekend, Suzy's calendar is chockful of items to check out around the County.
First up, Riverspace returns with The Helen Hayes Youth Theatre presents RENT School Edition on Friday, 12/4 and Saturday, 12/5 at 7pm for $15. The SHOW continues the following weekend and is probably best suited for older children -- middle school and HS since it does include some mature themes. For the younger kids, consider checking out Dear Edwina: A Musical Comedy for Kids also at Riverspace on Saturday, 12/5 and Sunday, 12/6 for $10. The show is suited for children ages 2-12. The show also runs into the following weekend. Showtimes are 12pm on 12/5 and 12:45pm on 12/6.
Our friends at the The Historical Society of Rockland County host their St. Nicholas Day Festival on Saturday, 12/5 with shows at 11:00 am, 12:15 pm and 1:30 pm on the grounds of the Historical Society located at 20 Zukor Rd in New City. The traditional Dutch celebration, held at the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House, is a fun chance for children, ages three to ten, to hear Dutch stories about the legend of St. Nicholas. Shoes are left on the doorstep for St. Nick's helpers to fill with goodies, hot apple cider and ginger cream cookies are served. Don't miss the chance to see St. Nicholas makes a special visit with his horse. Price: $5 adults and children over 2. Includes admission to the 34th Annual Miniature and Dollhouse Show: A Serendipity! and refreshments. A few other noteworthy items, our friends at The Little Gym are hosting a Holiday Bazaar with Santa to benefit the Rockland Parent-Child Center on Sunday, 12/6 from 1-5pm. Admission is $15 and includes a photo with Santa, open play at the Gym, crafts, a special treat to take home and shopping opportunities for mom and dad. Also, on Sunday, 12/6, the JCC Rockland hosts the Judy and David Chanukah Concert to get everyone in the Chanukah spirit. Advance tickets are $10, at the door $15. Judy and David are superstars in Canada.
