Fun Near and Far...
Last week, Suzy hinted that there was a circus coming to town and it is here.  The Amazing Grace Circus hosts its first Circus-in-the-Park EXTRAVAGANZA down on the river in Memorial Park in Nyack.  Yesterday, there was a Family Fun Day and next Saturday (7/25), there will be the "Old Tyme Circus Parade" right down Main Street in Nyack.  The parade will feature circus performers, clowns, an ELEPHANT, two llamas, Sheriff Kralik's Mounted Police Unit, and the fire department.  Parade steps off at 10:00 a.m. at the corner of Franklin and Main.  Amazing Grace Circus! is the Hudson Valley's only year-round all-youth circus arts organization that hosts camps over the summer and all sorts of circus based activities -- Circus-Cize for the kids or for yourself anyone??

The Amazing Grace Circus will be the first circus tent ever in Nyack's Memorial Park, along with the first elephant (named Minnie) ever to walk down Main street.  History in the making!

Circus performances will take place on Saturdays July 25th and August 1st at 12 pm and 4pm and Sundays July 26 and August 2 at 2 pm.  Tickets to all circus event are on sale at the event&event=20090725A Riverspace Box Office.  Prices are $20 for general admission and $10 for kids 12 and under and seniors.  Ringside seating is $30.  The circus will feature Amazing Grace Circus' Youth Troupe, and internationally recognized circus stars.

A few other items for your consideration this week...

The Orange County Fair hosted by our neighbors to the north in Middletown, NY starts July 23rd and runs through August 2nd.   Every day, they offer a great pay one price deal of $25 which includes admission and unlimited rides all day long.  Otherwise, gate admission only is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and under.  Fair runs from 1:00 p.m. until closing (whenever that is).

The Suffern Free Library offers their Outdoor Celebration on Saturday, July 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.  Refreshments, live music by the Manhattan Jazz Band, a clown making those balloon animals that the kiddies love and performing magic, an inflatable jumping castle, and more.  Make sure you bring your chairs and blankets.  If it rains, the festivities move indoors.

And, finally on Sunday, July 26th, Hudson Vagabond Puppets presents their show, Mammoth Follies, at Rockland Community College Cultural Arts Theater at 2:30 p.m.  Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for children and seniors.  For reservations, call 845-732-8186. Mammoth Follies explores the wonders of evolution in an old-fashioned revue of original songs, witty jokes, and earth-smashing dances performed by giant dinosaur puppets.  This program dramatizes historic and scientific fasts (as well as some myths) about the great age of the dinosaur.  It features enormous puppets like Willie Mammoth, Bessie the 27-foot long Apatosaurus, and an 11-foot tall T Rex.
