Splish Splash, come swim with the fish
Saturday, May 09, 2009

It's a wonderful time to get out of town and check out the fish. Suzy's kid is really old enough now to get a kick out of some of the great Aquariums we have nearby so we thought we'd do a little roundup for our galpals so you have the scoop too!
Small yet packed with great things to do other than gaze at the gilled creatures, the Martime Aquarium in Norwalk CT has lots to do for an entire day. Check out the IMAX theater for nature based movies as well as some soon to be classics, hop on a Marine Life Study Cruise, feed the seals or cruise the African Underwater Safari. An all around great value for under $15 pp to start.
Oldie but goodie and newly renovated, the NY Aquarium in Coney Island Brooklyn is a must see. Check out the Planet Earth Shallow Seas 4D Experience, feed the Sea Lions, let a 400 gallon tidal wave crash over your head or hang out for the Walrus Terrible Twos Big Birthday bash this June. Starting at $13 for adults, but you can kick back your heels on the beach with a Nathans hot dog afterward to chill out.
Taking the scenic route will bring you to lovely Camden NJ and Adventure Aquarium right on the waterfront. You can touch or swim with a shark, see the penguins, fall for the Rainforest Rendevouz and more. Admission starting at $19.95 for adults.
Weekender alert - Camping in the Poconos and Boulder Field - check back wednesday.
