Help Animals Locally!
Thursday, August 05, 2010

Suzy is an animal lover through and through... Did you know Rockland has its own animal shelter dedicated to preserving and improving the lives of the more than 2,500 animals that pass through their doors every year... The Hi Tor Animal Care Center located in Pomona is a great organization dedicated to protecting our furry friends. You can help them in their mission in the following ways:
They are in great need of newspapers for lining the cat cages, towels, sheets, pillowcases, blankets for the comfort of the animals and canned cat food - small or large cans in ground pate style.
They also, as of yesterday (8/4), need foster families for groups of kittens. They need a minimum four week commitment -- you can go to the shelter or fill out a foster application online. The shelter is overflowing and the cat/kitten population is at maximum capacity.
Hi Tor hosts free rabies clinics (coming on 10/3), events like Barktoberfest (the 1st one scheduled for 10/17), and adopts out many animals saving their lives.
If you can help, give them a call at 845-354-7900.
