New beginnings.
Regardless of your religion, Easter and Spring always remind me of renewal and those new beginnings that we are granted every day and especially, every season. Sifting through my life journey, I realize the importance of every new opportunity or new beginning I've been given to create new choices for myself. Each chance I've taken leads me to an amazing life and now the birth of my company – GBC Style.
What is it?
For me a new beginning happens every time I'm faced with a choice to make in my life. I have the power within me to make the best choice that in the end will create the person and business I wish for myself. Now I'm not saying that I am always great at making the best choices, but I do make the effort. It wasn't until my company – GBC Style - that I've taken action to follow through with a purpose or a mission bigger than my everyday life. It's about not being scared about what isn't and having faith in what can be.
Why is it important?
For me each new beginning in our lives is critical. Our days are all filled with new beginnings. Its how we choose to look at each opportunity we are given that will in fact make the difference. Without them the world - my world - would stand still in a way, with no options of ever improving. New beginnings give me the opportunity to start over, do over's that were such a part of our childhood. I knew even then that I could be better if given a chance.
So when did that stop for us?
We all are so talented in so many ways and yet we aren't expressing these talents for fear. I seize each opportunity as a gift now and am thankful for my do over's. When we settle we in a sense are giving up. When we give up we let someone else take care of the thinking for us.
When?
Every time I decide anything in my life whether it be regarding my business or family. I'm always asking questions? Why is this important for the outcome, why is the outcome something I want, how can I achieve this? These simple questions allow me to hone in on why I want this particular situation. Now the questions seem to pop up in all of my projects and the answers don't come easy at times and even with some resistance. But the fact that I have gone to these measures assures me that I can control, for the most part, the final project.
Now I pose the question - Why is this all important?
Well because in my business, I ask these questions of my clients. So why wouldn't I also ask them of myself. I ask them in order to encourage a focus on the bigger picture in terms of how their eco-choices can help clean up their homes and contribute in helping the world become more mindful. There was a time, not so long ago, that people looked at me as if I had two heads for asking questions. Why do paints have to be made with such toxic chemicals? Why do we thrive on being consumers? Where is all the stuff we consume being made? Why have we become a society so quickly to generate garbage? Why are we traveling around the world and not thinking about the fossil fuel we consume? And most importantly, how will this affect the future generations? How will this affect me? You see it really does all affect us. It's just that maybe we are not asking these questions because of fear.
Think about all of the questions and decisions we are faced with every day. I'm convinced that if we started to really ask why about most things we do, we would start making a huge difference in the choices we make each day and a positive new beginnings would emerge from each and every one of us.
What is the one question that you already ask yourself every day? What question will you add to that list tomorrow? Share your questions so that we can all be challenged to answer them for ourselves. Take care and be mindful.
