Suzy Gets Fit
SGF - Week 6
Sunday, July 26, 2009

So after my week off while feelin less than spectacular, i went back to the gym for my weekly session. It was Joe's day off so I trained with the lovely Anna (ok, Suzy's not familiar enough with her to start giving her pet names yet) who rocked. But before I speak about this week's trials and balancing theme it seemed, I have to tell all of our galpals about a wonderful opportunity that Fitness Together has offered up only for SUZY SUBSCRIBERS -
Fitness Together Airmont will be running two Fitness Workshops for those of you who are on the fence or just want to try it out. These are COMPLIMENTARY and limited to 6 people per session. It will be a 45 minute group training session and tour of the facility. There is no obligation here, but you might want to hear what they have to say and it will give you a first hand look at the process. The sessions are as follows:
Wednesday August 5th @ 9:45 am with Joe (my devil in disguise) &
Thursday August 6th @ 7:30 pm with Anna (in case the whole training with a guy thing doesn't work for you)
Please call 845 369 8663 to sign up and mention Suzy Said, you can speak to any of the trainers to do so. Bring a friend, the more the merrier. If you do attend, please email me at and tell us about your experience, we can compare notes!
Ok, back to our regularly scheduled program - this week's session was all about balance it seemed as i felt like that seal who balances the ball on his nose while on the big yoga like ball? Practically every exercise we did entailed balancing and core. Chest and shoulder presses on the yoga ball, upward shoulder presses on the yoga ball with cables, bi's and tri's on the yoga ball, rows on the bosu ball (which is the bain of my existence), crunches on the yoga ball, plyometrics on a "step" that was 2 feet off the ground, with medicine ball in hand and yeah - planks which inherently cause your entire body to shake.
Surprisingly, sort of, I did not repeat one exercise the same way with Anna as I had previously done with any of the other trainers. Kind of cool, it goes to show that every single one of the trainers has a very distinct style and way of doing things, all accomplishing the common goal of getting you fit. I had a wee bit trouble moving yesterday since we did so much legwork, but i guess it's that "good" burning feeling, so I shouldn't complain. Next week I am back with Joe, i'm sure he's looking forward to it as much as I am!
