Making a Difference 1 Cereal box at a time

Suzy was recently introduced to the Forever Jordan Foundation and its namesake - Jordan Esposito.
Jordan was born on Friday, June 13, 1986. Being a signifcant Friday of bad luck would certainly not stop her on her life of struggle and triumph, though it would symbolize her first few years. Jordan, or as we fondly call her now, Jody, was born with the most severe case of Spina Bifida.
This defect would leave her paralyzed from the mid waist down, leave her shunted in her brain and give her tremendous learning obstacles among many other physical challenges that she would face. Her clubbed feet would need repair, her Arnold Khiari, or long brain stem would need decompression and over the first 13 years of her life, she would endure 28 surgeries, the loss of her legs and 10 birthdays in the hospital.

Not a story you hear about everyday, nor the outcome of most kids in her situation. The Make a Wish Foundation turned Jordan's depressed and down personality around with her wish to meet Dale Earnhardt Jr in Daytona Beach. She came back a renewed teen with a focus and dedication to helping other kids in situations similar to hers.
8 years later, Jordan has a degree in Humanities from Suny Rockland and now writes, speaks, fundraises and more. A huge initiative for the Foundation this year is The Breakfast Club which simply put - is dedicated to making sure every child in Rockland County has breakfast every morning. Working with People to People they are asking whoever can to donate cereal or non perishable breakfast items at various drop off points in Rockland County.
Suzy will be a sponsor for May to help drive this cause. Please consider grabbing an extra box of cereal, pop tarts, breakfast bars, or what ever your kids eat in the am and dropping it off at the following locations:
Weichert Realtors - Suffern
217 Rt 59 - next to Applebee's
The Little Gym - Spring Valley
next to Educational Warehouse in Pascack Plaza
The Hula Hoop contest in Memorial Park, Nyack on Saturday May 8th
Suzy will be swinging those hips in between doing temp tats for the little ones, so if you are planning on stopping by, please drop off some breakfast items as well for us to collect. We will be there from 10a-12:30p.
