What is The Wig Exchange?
The Wig Exchange (TWE) is a new organization dedicated to providing a high quality, gently used wig to women with cancer. Women who participate in TWE will also be offered access to a wealth of local support, care and resources they can take advantage of if they wish.
Why was The Wig Exchange created?
For most women, hair loss is the most troublesome side effect of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. High quality wigs often cost thousands of dollars, making them unaffordable for many women. Meanwhile, many cancer survivors are unsure about what to do with their gently used wig when it’s no longer needed. The Wig Exchange facilitates a solution to both dilemmas.
Who founded The Wig Exchange?
The Wig Exchange is an extension of the cancer-related network of services provided by Sole Ryeders & Friends, a charitable organization based in Rye, New York. Sole Ryeders raises funds for breast cancer research in addition to providing support, care and other resources to women with cancer in Rye and surrounding communities.
How can I help?
You can help by simply getting the word out! If you, or someone you know, are interested in donating a wig (or related products and services), please contact us at soleryeders@gmail.com.
