The Many Faces of Portraiture Part 2
Monday, April 26, 2010

Running in the Children's Room Corridor at the Rye Library from May 3 through June 18, this exhibit highlighrs Rye Middle School art classes as they investigate different ways of exploring the portrait.
In one grouping 6th grade students explore tempera painting modeled after the famed wedding portrait profiles of the Duke and Dutchess of Urbino by Piero della Francesca. The students painted a self-portrait in their own imagined “kingdom”.
In another group of self-portraits, 7th graders explored the portrait in relief print making exploring the representation of form through the direction and quantity of line. They then surround the portrait with a geometric pattern.
The final grouping includes explorations of image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop software.
