Sunday, April 10, 2011

If you have a LEGO fan you will not want to miss this. Artist Ed Diment will assemble a 22-foot-long, 550 pound model USS Intrepid out of LEGO® bricks from Friday, April 15 through Saturday, April 16 from 10AM – 5PM, daily, at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue), Manhattan.
Diment, 39, will be flown to New York City by British Airways, will assemble the structure over two days, while also teaching children at the Museum how to build smaller ships, planes and structures out of LEGO® bricks.
The final model USS Intrepid will be 22 feet long, nearly 4.5 feet high, 4.5 feet wide and weigh 550 pounds. Diment resides in Portsmouth, England, where he originally built the model after visiting the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum while vacationing in New York. The model will be on display at the Museum through September 2011.
Free with Museum admission. For more information, go to The Intrepid Museum.
