Women's Self Defense Class

The Junior League of Greenwich and the YWCA of Greenwich will host its second annual Women’s Self-Defense Class on Sunday, March 4 at the YWCA, 259 East Putnam Avenue from noon to 3 pm. The class, which is part of the Junior League of Greenwich’s “Done in a Day” series of community service projects, is designed to teach women safety and defense strategies.
The S.T.O.R.M. Self-Defense Program teaches counter offense rather than defense to repel attacks and is taught by Frank Drake, owner of Genesis Diversified Services, based in Yonkers, N.Y. The program provides one-on-one teaching defense tactics and provides attendees the opportunity to practice safety and defense techniques in a hands-on program.
The Junior League of Greenwich and the YWCA of Greenwich are sponsoring this free course, which will feature a three hour afternoon class, limited to 40 women. A complimentary lunch will be provided. Women are encouraged to register by contacting the YWCA Member Services Desk at 203-869-6501 or by emailing Michelle Pennino, Director of Member Services at mpennino@ywcagreenwich.org. It is recommended that women participating should wear athletic clothing and footwear.
