Faraway Farm Alpacas
Faraway Farm, located in Hudson Valley, NY, has been in a family for for close to 60 years. At one time, the farm was home to sheep, chickens, cows and goats. About 30 years ago the pastures and barns were converted for horses and have housed a variety of breeds: Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, Hanoverians, and Icelandics. Today, the alpacas and horses live harmoniously in neighboring fields, equally fascinated by each other.
What was once a sheep barn, now houses a farm office, a vet room and farm store. One of their remodeled horse barns is now home to their pregnant alpacas. Organic gardens dot the hillside, along with fruit trees, berry bushes and flowerbeds. It is a peaceful place and one you and your children are sure to enjoy visiting.
