You spent the past hour putting toys back on the shelf, piling books into neat stacks, and wiping art supplies off of tabletops and chairs. You even got down on all fours and reached into the under-the-couch-abyss to find that missing game piece, a stale pretzel, and a sock. You stand back, breathing a sigh of accomplishment as you gaze at your masterpiece in all its tidiness.
Cue: incoming children. A mere 45 minutes later, it appears that a gale-force wind has swept through your home.
While it may at times be difficult to envision, it is possible to maintain organized living spaces without depriving your children of their childhood. Go ahead, let them get messy. Let them take five things off the shelf at once. It will be okay…as long as you follow some of Ali Brown Culliford's design tips to set your children, your home, and your sanity up for success.
