Wednesday, January 19, 2011

There is still time left for the Winter Creature Cruises at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, take a trip out onto Long Island Sound and see some of the seals that spend the winter just off the shores. This invigorating cruise seeks out the harbor, gray and harp seals that have been coming down into the sound in growing numbers each winter. Educators on board the research vessel Oceanic point out these federally protected marine mammals and talk about their natural histories, along with identifying winter waterfowl. Appropriate for ages 8 and up. Bring binoculars and wear warm clothes. Reservations are recommended. Tickets are $18.50 for aquarium members and $20.50 for non-members. The Maritime Aquarium is located at 10 North Water Street. For more information, call 203-852-0700 or visit www.maritimeaquarium.org.
