Enjoy an afternoon of fun while learning the art of origami folding during this workshop to support Earthquake & Tsunami Relief Efforts for Japan. Learn how to fold animals, birds, and even Pikachu! The workshop leaders will be wearing Yukatas (summer kimonos) while teaching origami (ori -fold, gami-paper), a craft that Japanese children learn from an early age. All materials for the workshop will be provided.
July 2, from 1 – 3 PM
Suggested Donation: $5

The most popular model is perhaps the crane, a bird that symbolizes long life and harmony. The crane is considered a sacred bird in Japan. It is a Japanese custom that if a person folds 1,000 cranes, they would be granted one wish. We will have a display of Senbazuru (1,000 cranes) in hopes of a quick recovery in the lives of the people affected by the earthquake and the tsunami of March 11, 2011.
