Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature
Friday, October 17, 2008

Come experience "The Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature".
Of course, you ask: What is that?
The Rabbit Hill Festival at the Westport Library is named to honor Robert Lawson, the only author/illustrator to win both the Caldecott and Newbery Medals for excellence in children's illustration and literature. He created his work in his Westport home and studio, which was called "Rabbit Hill".
The festival is free and open to the public.
When: October 23, 24 and 25th
The theme this year is "Bringing Life to Literature" featuring six creators of ground-breaking picture books for all ages who will discuss how their lives inform their work.
The festival kicks off on Thursday, October 23, with an evening featuring the Director of the Eric Carle Museum, Nichols B. Clark. Continuing events throughout Friday and Saturday include a tour of the famed Weston Woods Studios and discussion with celebrated children's authors and illustrators Steve Jenkins, E.B. Lewis, Grace Lin, Barbara McClintock, David Wiesner and Mo Willems.
Finally, the festival winds up on Saturday, October 25th, with a book signing at Saugatuck Elementary School at 3:30 PM, where children are most welcome and no registration is required. Most other events, however, are for adults only. They are free, but require advance registration.
