The Westport-Weston Health District received its shipment of flu vaccine for the season.
Eight flu immunization clinics will be offered starting in October and continuing into November.
The following is this season's flu immunization clinic schedule:
Thursday, Oct. 2
Westport Weston Health District, 180 Bayberry Lane, Westport - 10 AM-2 PM
Tuesday, Oct. 21
Weston Library, Norfield Road, Weston - 9 AM-1 PM
Tuesday, Nov. 4
Westport Town Hall (Green Room), 110 Myrtle Ave, Westport - 7 AM-9 AM, 5 PM-8 PM
Tuesday, Nov. 4
Weston Annex Building (Conference Room), 24 School Road, Weston - 6 PM - 8 PM
Thursday, Nov. 6
Westport Senior Center 21 Imperial Avenue, Westport - 4:30 PM-7:30 PM
Wednesday, Nov. 12
Norfield Church Norfield Road, Weston - 1:30 PM -3:30 PM
Tuesday, Nov. 18
Westport Library 20 Jesup Road, Westport - 9:30 AM-12:30 PM
The above clinics are open to anyone 9 years of age or older wishing to be vaccinated. No appointments necessary.
The flu shot will cost $35. There is no cost to Medicare Part B participants. Medicare B participants must bring their Medicare cards to the clinic for billing purposes. No other insurances are accepted.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend influenza vaccination every year for the following risk groups:
* Children 6-59 months of age
* Children 6 months-18 years of age who are on long-term Aspirin treatment
* Women who are pregnant during the flu season
* Household contacts and caregivers of anyone in high risk group
* Health care workers
* Adults 50 years and older
