Teach your kids how they can make a difference with energy conservation through the the lens of the threatened climate of the polar bear.
Gault-Polar Bears International (PBI) Alliance unveils "Energy Conservation Zone" and launches winter Polar Bear Empathy Day events at Westport's P.A.L. Ice Rink at Longshore.

Saturday, December 27, 2008, from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
Why:
As part of its energy conservation public education programs, the Gault-PBI Alliance promotes year-round energy conservation for the health of our neighborhoods, the planet and the polar bear's habitat. Polar Bear Empathy Day events remind families of the many easy lifestyle changes they can make to reduce their carbon emissions in the race to rein in global warming and save the polar bear.
Event Highlights:
Kid-friendly chalk talks, "live" polar bear ice carving demonstration, coat and blanket drive to benefit a local charity, photo op with Polar Bear Empathy Team Mascot, Polar Paulie, and free reusable shopping bag gifts containing a "Degrees of Comfort" year-round energy conservation guide, "i care about the bear" wristband and mini polar bear posters.
