Is there a child among us worthy of the Butterfly Award?


Is there a youth in our community deserving of this prestigious award? A 'kids only' category is now part of the Volvo for life Awards, an annual nationwide search for hometown heroes, with $1 million going to charities. If you know of a child who's contribution merits a nomination please read on.

Nominations for the "Butterfly Award," open to kids 16 and younger, are accepted now through Oct. 15 at www.volvoforlifebutterflyaward.com Volvo will honor one outstanding kid with a $25,000 charitable donation and two runners-up with $10,000 each.
The Butterfly Award recepient and a guest will be invited to attend the Gala Awards Ceremony to be held at Cipriani 42nd Street on March 19th 2008

Alex Scott, one of the first winning heroes in the Volvo for life Awards and an eight-year-old cancer patient from Wynnewood, Pa, gained national attention for her efforts to raise money for pediatric cancer research by holding annual lemonade stands. Sadly, Alex passed away Aug. 1, 2004. Her legacy lives on through her charity which has raised more then $13 million to date
