Westport Farmer's Market Opens This Week
Saturday, May 16, 2009

It must be summer if the Westport Farmers' Market is open for business.
That happens on Thursday, May 21st at its new location, the Imperial Avenue Commuter parking lot (adjacent to the Woman's Club).
The market will be held every Thursday, from 10am to 2pm through November 19th.
The new, waterfront location offers ample parking, easy access to town and enough space to host up to 30 vendors. Additionally this year's market is proud to feature a community tent, a 40 seat area where visitors can meet, enjoy their market treats and learn about why and how to enjoy local foods.
Each week the tent will feature a cooking demo, product tasting or talk from a local chef, instructor or farmer that will make working with market foods even more fun and delicious.
On opening day the tent will feature music from Lisa Furman (with Chris Teskey on guitar). At 11 AM, it will host an informal opening ceremony to ring in the new season.
