"Every rug that is handmade is a work of art," Kamram said.
How do you tell if an Oriental rug you are considering is of good quality? "If it glows or shimmers, it's definitely good quality," he explained.
Kamran also says to look for the quality of the wool; it should be soft to the touch. The vibrancy of the color is a mark of top-notch artisans.

How do you measure the correct size rug for a living room?
"The front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug as well as the other sitting group furniture."
How do you get candle wax out of a carpet?
"Turn the rug upside down, use a low-temperature iron to draw the wax out."
What about the dreaded red wine stain?
"Turn the rug over and put white wine on it. Use a toothbrush. Pour some white wine on it and scrub lightly Never put salt on stains. That makes it permanent."
Kamran's other advice: Use dishwashing liquid like "Ivory" on a soft toothbrush and apply to a stain. Always try a dry towel to get a stain out. Animal accidents should be professionally treated; otherwise, they will permanently alter a carpet.
