Quick Trips
Beantown or Bust

If you're looking for a quick getaway, head north to Boston. It's less than three hours in the car or as Suzy measures it, just one bathroom stop!
Here are a few kid-friendly recommendations that are perfect for a day trip if you hit the road early or an overnight if you've got more time:
The Public Gardens
Every April for nearly 140 years, the Swan Boats come to life. It wouldn't be spring in Beantown without them. Opening Day this year is April 19th. While you're in the gardens be sure to wander over and show the little ones the statue made famous by Robert McCloskey, in his book "Make Way for Ducklings".

Fenway Park
Sox fan or not, this nostalgic old ball park is steeped in history and worth an afternoon or evening stop. If the team is in town, tickets are hard to come by but not impossible. Head down Brookline Avenue or Yawkey Way, where for the right price, there's always a fan trying to make a deal. If the Sox are away, a tour of the park is a must!

Boston Duck Boat Tours
A definite highlight for the kids, these old World War II, amphibious vehicles have been refurbished and are rockin' and rollin' down the streets of Boston before making a splash into the Charles River. At this time of year, make reservations so as not to be disappointed.

Museum of Science
Like any big city museum the MOS is filled with educational exhibits and interactive stuff for the kids. You could spend an entire day here. Be sure to experience the Hayden Planetarium, where daily departures to outer space are a favorite with the kids.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace
Another historical stop, located on the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall has been part of Bostonians lives for over 250 years! Although it seems to be the destination of every tourist that comes to Boston, the natives still visit and their kids love it. Pick up a slice at Regina's Pizzeria, a bag of cookies at the Chipyard and souvenirs before you head home.
