A Little Spring in Your Cellar
Sunday, March 21, 2010
Suzy's galpal Maureen is her go-to when it comes to selecting wine. Her local wine shop is stocked with interesting varietals for every occasion. According to Mo, once Spring has sprung, it's time to bring out some Rosé. Here are some of her favorites...
Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rose '09

A lovely, lively, bright and clear pomegranate colour with complex layers of strawberry, cherry, roses and fresh peaches on the nose. The wine has a nice, spicy and slightly peppery taste on the palate and is well balanced with a fresh long aftertaste.
$11.99 btl
Domaine de Rimauresq Petite Rose '08

Rimauresq is one of only a handful of Appellation Côtes de Provence vineyards awarded Cru Classé status in 1955. This mirrors the classification of the great Bordeaux chateaux a hundred years earlier. This charming and sophisticated dry pink comes from a first-class source. It's archetypical Provence rosé, with a very attractive bright flavors of apricots, plums, and strawberries, followed by a creamy, fresh finish.
$14.99 btl
Domaine Massamier La Mignarde Cuvée des Oliviers Rosé '09

A blend of Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache. Fresh strawberry and cactus flower aromas lead to a light, extremely lively palate with strawberry and red cherry flavors presented in a very dry, refreshing style. More intensity of flavor than the color would indicate. Always a favorite at Mo's!
$10.99 btl (available mid-April)
