Paddle to Help Clean-up the Saugatuck River

Want to help clean up the Saugatuck River?
DownunderCT is holding a clean-up of the Saugatuck River by kayak or paddle board on Sunday, April 28th, from 1 - 3 PM.
The water will still be cold on earth day so volunteers should wear cold water gear such as wetsuits, or neoprene layers. Downunder will provide emergency gear and safety kits as well as rubber gloves and garbage bags. Downunder will be donating all rental fees and voluntary donations to Save the Sound.
Trash on beaches and waterways can have hazardous impacts on fish, wildlife and even local economies. Marine life becomes entangled in fishing line, nets and six-pack rings. Fish, birds and turtles mistake trash like Styrofoam, plastics and cigarette butts for food, which may eventually lead to starvation.
