Westport Resident Orna Grand is hosting the Create Footprints walk with Karen Kissling from Wilton, and Melissa Bradshaw- Mack from Weston.  Orna's goal is to get all of Fairfield county involved in this important cause.  Orna Grand contracted Lyme Disease in 2002 and to this day is still dealing with its' aftermath. Her own experience has made her determined to do all that she can do to raise awareness and much needed funding for this cause.

Funds raised from this walk will support further outreach and awareness of the physical, emotional and social effects of Lyme Disease.  This includes the groundbreaking Physicians Training Program, run by Turn The Corner and the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society, which provides medical practitioners the opportunity to study with a Lyme-Literate health care professional to recognize and treat Lyme Disease successfully.

The event will include  a 1 1/2 & 3 mile walk, and a 5K & 10K run within the park.  There will be entertainment, food, refreshments, bounce house, and awards for the first and second male and female runners in each of the 5K and 10 K races. .  Opening remarks will be presented by Representative Kim Fawcett, and Senator John McKinney. Pre-race stretches will be conducted by yoga instructor  Karen Kissling. Author Pamela Weintraub of" Cure Unknown Inside The Lyme Epidemic" will be present to sign her book. Books will be available for purchase with proceeds going to TTC. DVD's of the Lyme Documentary Film "Under Our Skin" will also be available for purchase with proceeds going to TTC. The Westport/Weston Health District will be present to distribute pamphlets with information on Lyme Disease and Prevention.  The National Anthem will be sung by Michelle Belle.  Check in begins at 9:00AM, and the event will begin at 10:00AM.
