Water Rats Swim for Haiti

Tuesday marks three weeks since the devastating earthquake in Haiti. There is much left to be done to alleviate the suffering of thousands and help the nation get back on its feet. Our local Water Rat Swim Team is swimming to raise funds for Save the Children's efforts in Haiti.

Their choice to swim exactly 21 days after the earthquake was deliberate. More than half of Haiti's population is under the age of 21. The children of Haiti are particularly vulnerable on the road back to recover, which is why the Water Rats have chosen to raise money for Save the Children, an organization that has been helping the children of Haiti for 25 years.

The swimmers are currently soliciting donations for this fundraiser. To contribute, write a check to "Save the Children" and reference "WWFY Swim" or use a Save the Children credit card form. Mail your donation to Swim for Haiti, Aquatics Department, Westport Weston Family Y, 59 Post Road East, P.O. Box 190, Westport, CT 06880.

Lots of swimmers are involved in this and different meets are happening at both the Y and Staples High School. And you don't have to be a WRAT to participate. High School and Masters swimmers are also invited. The Water Rats Parents' Club will provide refreshments.
All the details on the schedule and how to donate or participate are here.
