Every town has an easy choice for dinner. You want American fare -- quick and reliable with lots of choices. Perhaps you want fancier than your local sports bar but not too upscale that you can't comfortably include the kids.
With that in mind, Suzy heads at least once a month to Southport Brewing Company.
With five outposts across Connecticut -- including the eponymous flagship restaurant and Stamford -- SBC has been providing home-brewed beers to the locals for 11 years.
What parents like about an excursion to the SBC Restaurant & Brewery is that Big Kids can get a real dinner while the Little Ones receive a tray with real food including a somewhat healthy dessert with a fruit cup. There are more than three predictable options on the children's menu!
(Note to Galpal: the pizza on the kids menu is HUGE. If you're ordering for toddlers, you'll have plenty for lunch tomorrow.)

The bar is a perfect place to gather for some football and appetizers. As for the 27 home-brews, the Big Head Blonde is a favorite of this Blonde. But if you're a connoisseur, be sure to try the Tier II and III brewskis -- the IPA and Deep Amber Ale.
Suzy's tip: order up a myriad of tasty appetizers and team with a side salad to save on the bill. The iron-seared beef tips are not to be missed. We also rely on the pulled pork quesadilla (that's over-stuffed with juicy meat) and the Singapore wings. Then again, you won't want to pass up the "Brew Burger". Hmmmm... so many choices.
The only drawback is that SBC doesn't take weekend dinner reservations and won't seat you until your entire party arrives. So, make sure to plan ahead.
