Introducing Sugar & Olives, a 1300-square foot converted factory space in Norwalk, complete with a commercial kitchen and a comfortable living room. It's a place to explore and enjoy the simple pleasures of fresh local food complete with a full service cupcake bar, late night confections and cooking classes for all ages.

Classes are offered after school for children and in the evenings for adults. Private classes and parties are welcome.

Class topics include: Instant Dinner Party; Sensational Seasonal Vegetables; Oy Vey, My In-Laws Are
Coming! and Springtime in Paris.

Kids classes include: Marshmallows and Other Sticky Treats, Dinner in a Bag and Homemade Chinese Takeout.
Some classes have field trips to local farmers markets and working farms.

Breakfast will be served Tuesday thru Saturday 8 AM 'til they run out of crepes, house-made vanilla yogurt and granola, and the 'porridge of champions'.

Saturday night plated desserts will begin at 9:30 PM. No reservation required. Friday nights will include themed gatherings with wine pairings and special guest chef demonstrations. Saturday evenings 'til 9:30pm are reserved for private dining with advanced booking.

Although the place is painted in shades of pewter gray, the atmosphere is  "green".

At the Sugar   Olives lounge they used green building materials and paints and have recycled paper products and easily biodegradable food containers made from sugarcane.

Worth special mention is Gorilla Coffee, served French press. These organic Fair Trade beans come from Central/South America and Africa and are roasted in Brooklyn. Coffee fanatics will enjoy concoctions like "Devil's
Advocate" (for the mocha enthusiast) and "Sweet White Morning" (for those of you who enjoy it light and sweet.) Strong and black fans will want to try Guatemalan Huehuetenango, a vibrant deep roasted bean.

Most bakery items are made with whole wheat flour, unless otherwise noted. Gluten, peanut and/or dairy free goodies are usually on hand. Cupcakes will be offered daily with sometimes as many as ten varieties, but
the cool catch is that you can mix and match at the cupcake bar. Private cupcake parties are available.
