Finally Really Authentic Italian
After reading the New York Times review of Finalmente Trattoria in Westport, I was intrigued to taste how authentic this cozy restaurant could possibly be.

Suzy went to high school in northern Italy, where the food is a delicious mix of German and Italian cooking -- which stands apart from the spicy, saucy cuisine of Roma and Napoli.

We were not disappointed.

If you're looking for a dressed-up night out -- not necessarily a suit and tie but wonderfully traditional Italian cooking -- Finalmente Trattoria is the place to make a reservation.

The pastas are phenomenal.  We tried a gnocchi caprese (fresh tomatoes and mozzarella) and the night's special ravioli with a light tomato and basil sauce. Pasta e fagioli one of your Italian staples?  Try it here.

Remember to save room for the entrees (we skipped lunch!). We ordered Fileto d'Agnello Scottadito –Lamb loin pan roasted with fresh rosemary, garlic extra virgin olive served with Portobello mushrooms topped with gorgonzola in a balsamic reduction.  We can't rave enough.  Spada Al Balsamic –Grilled sword fish steak topped with fresh tomatoes, herbs in a refined aged balsamic sauce -- was a welcome change to how we've had it prepared in the past.

The perfect place to take mom and dad... or for a graduation or prom dinner... or better yet, a romantic date night.
