New to Town: Manolo
Monday, June 22, 2009

Heads up, Westport! There's a new restaurant in town and Suzy says: It's divine! Café Manolo has only been open for about a week or so, but you'd never know it; they've overlooked nothing. Chef Pedro Garzon melds the best of Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients to create an unforgettable culinary experience right here in Westport. The interior is simple but elegant, with crisp table linens and a gorgeous gathering of sunflowers in an oversize vase at the back wall when Suzy visited. (And yes, the old bank vault door is still there).
The wine list is top notch, offering unexpected greats by the glass like a lively Muscadet and a peppery Rioja. The menu, with new additions daily, boasts an authentic charcuterie selection, a broad choice of seafood, and standards like a New York Strip Steak, which was worth every single calorie. (Also worth the time on the treadmill is the Truffled Soft Polenta.)The staff is attentive but not oppressive. And they're even happy to accommodate the littlest member of your family with a plate full of perfectly cooked pasta in a well-seasoned homemade tomato sauce, not to mention a much appreciated smile. But Suzy thinks that even though they're great with the kids, Café Manolo is worth hiring a sitter to visit. You might want to make a reservation, though, because Westport seems to be catching on to this new choice for a night out.
